Bihun Stir-fry: Pam's Edition

Bihun Stir-fry
I love Bihun so much and I requested it from my family in Malaysia when they came to Botswana last year. I had two big packets and I am left with one now. Yesterday I felt like having a light dinner and Bihun is very light, so I made Bihun stir-fry.
Here are some pictures with directions.

Bihun Preparation

I boiled water, placed the Bihun in a coriander and pour the boiling water on the Bihun and let it soak in the water.
I changed the water twice.

The stir-fry

In a saucepan I sautéed onions, baby marrows with ginger and garlic paste until the onions are translucent.

Add green pepper and mushrooms, stir fry for 2 mins

Add tomatoes do the same.
Then add spices and salt, I used aromat and a bit of lemon juice to enhance the taste.
Stir fry until the tomatoes are well cooked.
Add drained Bihun
Stir-fry for 2 mins

Mix well with the cooked vegetables

And Dinner is READY!!!

Thank you for stopping by!

You don’t know what you want. Figure yourself out first!

You could have a list of things you want and those things can be presented right before you but just because they are wrapped up In a gift wrap you don’t like you won't tell that’s what you need! Yeah, we still judge books by their covers!

I am speaking to the young people, people of my generation especially those that say they are waiting upon The Lord! Guess what, He is waiting upon you! To make up your mind and let Him give you what He knows is best for you.

We have a tendency to make things sound holy but the deeper meaning to it is exactly the same canal desires. I am not saying it’s wrong to want a sharp looking partner (of course I am talking about relationships, courtship and marriage). There is nothing wrong with it, in fact make sure you are attracted to your potential partner but that’s a story for another day. Today I wanna talk about the sugar coated statements of “it’s all about the heart and personality”, “a man of God, Kingdom minded’ and other things we say! When such a man comes and stands before you asking your hand in marriage, you hesitate! ‘He looks local, he has no swag, he is too short, he has funny looking teeth, and he is not toned/buff enough’. We come up with all excuses based on the things that we had earlier said don’t matter.

Some of us end up with all those outward appearance that we desired and also with empty hearts. You end up with those well-built bodies and toned arms that end up making ugly marks on your body, bruising your emotions and confidence and scarring your heart for life. When will we truly learn that there is no package? It is what you do with that which the Lord has given you that matters.
Proverbs 14:1 … A wise woman builds her home. Let’s go through that:
Build: Means to construct something by putting parts together over a period of time.
       - Building involves turning materials into a defined structure. It starts with parts and bits of things that on their own are not complete.
-It takes time. Building is not an overnight thing, laying brick after brick till a structure stands.

Building starts somewhere and the Lord has given us that ability ladies, to build. It’s in you! Building a home does not only mean a physical place, it’s the people, the hearts in it, the bodies, the spirits and the souls. You take care of the house, you feed, you nurse back to health, you cloth in clean robes, you affirm and build confidence, you support.
Let me let you into a secret, those man that you see with the swag that you desire. Some of them were ‘fashion nays’ before and a woman worked her magic. Question is, where is she now and what happened? Mmmhh!

Things that are pointing north now will someday point south. He may have all the physique but anything can happen. The outward appearance fades away no matter how much you take care of it, It was never meant to last forever. The inside though does not fade and the more you take care of it, the more beautiful it becomes. You can’t build the heart! I am not saying say yes to man so that you ‘Fix’ him! I am saying that you CAN'T fix a heart but you can help build an outward appearance. You can suggest clothes for him, hit the gym, lovingly give fashion advises and a change can happen.
The thing about a hardened heart is only God can change it, let me repeat this: YOU CAN'T FIX A HEART. Don’t give in to the eye candies that you will share with the public and be a punching bag alone at home. Beauty that endures is from within, the outward beauty fades. Choose makoya!

Brothers; how many of you have gone for the ‘outwardly beautiful’ girl without checking her inner beauty first, only to realize that you have brought a Proverbs 27:15 woman home? But for those who haven’t made those mistakes yet, which one will it be? The quarrelsome woman or the woman who fears the Lord?

Pam, Selah!

Work on You

We live in a society where competition is the norm and stepping on others to make yourself feel better and make it to the top is the rule of the day. They even have names for this; PHD (The Pull Him Down syndrome). We constantly feel the need to proof ourselves better than other people and when we are not we have to take them down just to feel better about ourselves. Someone’s tragedy or bad news is your time to shine; We rejoice over the pains and trying times of other people.
Could there really be true happiness in this? We were not born to thrive by pulling other people down. We were born people of love and compassion, we are made to be Christ Like. Our true identity has been swallowed by the dictation from the society that creates an illusion of perfection and excellence. Who were you before the world told you who you should be?
We miss the mark the moment we start to compare ourselves with other people. When you look at another person with envy and start desiring what they have, taking note of what they have that you don't. You begin to create false thoughts that they think of themselves highly and because you conceive it, its now alive to you; she is too high and she needs to be pulled down from her high horse. You then embark on a journey to prove they are nothing and that you can be better than them... no matter what it takes. You have opened a door to jealousy and you are blowing out that light of love in your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says keep vigilant watch over your heart; that's where life starts. The jealousy that you have let in your heart now starts to dictate to your life, you are ruled by jealousy, the decisions you make are influenced by jealousy, your actions and your words are full of jealousy.
Galatians 6:1-5
1-3 Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived. 4-5 Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don’t be impressed with yourself. Don’t compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.
Galatians 6:1-5 reminds us that we are not prefect were never meant to be and we will never be. Perfection is not important, what’s important is working at yourself to be the best you, the person God created you to be. You have a better change at being the best you than being someone else. Know who you are and shun any hint of comparison that tries to arise itself in your heart. Murders are never set out to kill, the thought is nurtured up until it becomes action. Choke that thought of comparison by meditating on who God says you are in His Word. Explore His will for your life. Focus your energy and time on bettering you; let your biggest competition be you, work hard at improving and be better than the you from yesterday. Lets get back to the original plan of God concerning our lives. Who did HE make you to be? Ever looked at yourself in the mirror and failed to recognise the person you have become?
James 3:14-16 MSG
13-16 Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here’s what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It’s the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts. Mean-spirited ambition isn't wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn't wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn't wisdom. It’s the furthest thing from wisdom—it’s animal cunning, devilish conniving. Whenever you’re trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others’ throats.
I CAN ASSURE YOU God did not make you to be an envious, greedy, mean, non-forgiving, judging and jealous person. James 3 says that is devilish, demonic and its not from God. Those are evil spirits and habits we pick as we let our hearts wander about when we should be working on our callings and salvation. Know who you are in Christ and work at that!

Let it Go and Focus!!

I have been caught up between two places; the bitter past and a glorious future! So I am here to encourage people who might be in the same place I was in.

There are some things in the past that might have stopped you from being able to do what you always wanted to do or be. It can be failure, lack, momentary situations that hindered you. But many of us have dreams that keep us going, the idea of being able to achieve those things, get to those places keeps you going in life. For some people its their kids, parents or situations they want to turn around because they want to make changes in the lives of those people, turn situations around and better things for their kids. What ever that you had that you wanted to do and couldn't for whatever reason, its not dead, if its dead and you know its important to you, resurrect it. Its time to let go of the past failure and look into the future with possibilities.

This is for a mother who had to sacrifice her dream to take care of her kids that she had earlier than expected. Now that you did it and they are grown, let it go, focus on that dream. Its for that child who was brought up in a poor family and longed to be successful, poverty is not a body part you can't get rid off, let it go, dare to be successful and different from your family. For that boy who was told by his step father that he can never be anything in life and held on to those words, let it go; you can be anything you want be, just focus and get it going.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. God wants us to trust in Him, this is like a green light at the traffic light, its a go sign. Trust the Lord, His intentions for you are God and not evil. We do go through situations but they are never meant to hold us hostage. They are there to strengthen us and ready us for the future. Many times we take our situations as the last bus stop. No, you had and maybe still have that dream for a reason, explore it, trust in the Lord, commit your ways to Him and see what comes off it. Failure defines nobody just those who want it to define them. Break down that strong hold, let it go and get focused on what matters to you. Your dreams are waiting for you;  a more determined you, the you  who knows how it is to be held back from doing what they love, who has for so long been dictated to by fear, failure, negativity and past experiences. Break dawn with a new mindset, the past is in the past, put it behind you and focus on what you want, what you desire... Romans 8:31 what, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? Its over, move on!

We fall down and we get up.

Listen to this song and let go. We fall down but the most important thing is getting up. Remember Its in the past,

Let it go, it shouldn't hold you back any more!

Stay blessed!

Pretty lil' Updates

Hello guys. It is just me or this year is on some Fast and Furious Tip? 2014 has just started and we are already midway done with the year. Where has the time gone? I have a tendency of measuring time with progress, things that I have done and those I intend to do. Looking back at the past 5 months, and checking progress, the year has been good so far.

One of the things I have in my ‘To try out’ list for 2014 is to grow my hair naturally. I have had it natural from August 2013 and I don’t intend to relax it. I have been feeling a little frustrated with the growth progress though, there isn't much length growth, at-least I don’t see much of it. Natural hair comes with challenges such as hairstyling, manageability and generally keeping it healthy, I am learning. Here are a few shots of the hair. I will get there, I just have to keep pressing on.

I had just removed the weave I had on from the last post. The hair is just combed out.

Getting ready to wash my hair, at the hair salon.

Kinky, nappy afro.. I am learning patience through this hair journey, an important fruit of the spirit.

22-23 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
Galatians 5:22-23

A winter Look

Hey guys, howdy? So its winter in Botswana right now and the temperatures are dropping every day. I find myself longing for those summer outfits of cute little dresses. But its so cold and I was looking for ways to wear my dresses without torturing myself, so I decided to wear the dresses with tights. Here is one look.

I wore these short lace up boots with the outfit.

The jacket is a nice touch to the outfit as well, its warm but not bulky or heavy.

Do you separate your winter wardrobe from the summer one or do you combine the them? How?

Thank you for stopping by, please comment, share and subscribe and keep coming back for more posts.
Stay Blessed.
